Over the past two decades, our growers in the Hex River region have established a tradition of excelling in the annual local table grape block competition and this year they have done it again! Of the eight prizes awarded in the competition, four of the prizes were awarded to Exsa growers. These were second and fourth places in the established block division and first and second position in the young block division.

The winner of the award for young block in the competition was Gawie Joubert of De Doorns House Estate for a block of Sweet GlobeTM, while his brother, Pieter Joubert of Buffelskraal, bagged the second prize in the established block division of the competition for a block of SUPERIOR SEEDLESS®. The second prize in the young block division went to Robert Brown of Kanetvlei for a block of AUTUMNCRISP® and the fourth prize in the established vineyard division went to Paul Joubert of Habata for a block of Sweet JoyTM .

We would like to extend our congratulations to Gawie, Pieter, Robert, and Paul on their achievements and on excelling in this prestigious competition. We also extend our congratulations to the competition winner, Anton Bothma of the Karsten Group’s De Hoop Farm, who won first prize for an established block of Sweet GlobeTM.
